On January 16th this year The Mayor of Krakow Jacek Majchrowski received Marian Skrzypiec, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia, in his office. The meeting was courtesy.
During the meeting, the Honorary Consul briefed the President of Krakow on the main areas of activity of the newly created diplomatic unit. He presented the key tasks facing the consulate within the office entrusted to him and invited the President to further cooperation between Krakow and Indonesia.
At the meeting, possible directions of development of cooperation between the capital of the Lesser Poland voivodeship and Indonesia were defined. Particular emphasis was placed on the educational dimension – a dozen or so Indonesians are currently studying in Krakow. As the consul points out, his priority is to promote Krakow and Indonesia, which is to increase the number of students in Poland, but also to encourage Poles to study in an Asian country.
Other directions of the consulate’s activities are primarily economic and tourist development, which can be significantly influenced by fruitful cooperation with the authorities of Lesser Poland.
It is worth mentioning that this year is the 65th anniversary of establishing Polish-Indonesian relations. Certainly, it will be an opportunity for intensive talks and actions conducive to expanding cooperation between nations.
