Population

Indonesia is a country where Javanese make up 45% of the total population, Sundaans 14%, Madurans 7.5%, Malay 7.5%, Chinese 5%, others 21%. There are 210 million in Indonesia (2001), which gives an average population density of 109 people per 1 km2. The birth rate is 1.6 ferry. The average life expectancy of a man is about 66 years, women 71 years. Java is the most densely populated area. About 41% of the population lives in cities. Religion

Among the believing inhabitants of Indonesia, 87% profess Islam, 6% Protestantism, 3% Catholicism, other Hinduism and Buddhism. Rapid Islamization of the country follows. Political, religious and ethnic riots have occurred in many provinces in Indonesia in recent years.

Languages

The official language is Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia). English, Chinese, Dutch, Javanese, Sundanese and many local languages ​​are in use.
